The Archive by CDL Australia Has Arrived - And So Has Ollo's First Polestar

The way we live in cities is changing - and the way we access cars is changing with it.

Ollo’s newest partnership with CDL Australia at The Archive, their build-to-rent community in Southbank, Melbourne has just been added to our map. As part of the launch, residents now have access to a dedicated on-site carshare vehicle through the Ollo app - and it marks a major milestone for us: the introduction of our first Polestar 2 to the Ollo fleet.

A building designed for modern renters

The Archive has been created around a simple idea: renting should feel like living, not temporary accommodation. With thoughtfully designed communal areas, shared amenity spaces, and a focus on resident experience, the building encourages connection, flexibility and convenience.

Mobility is a key part of that experience.

For many residents, owning a car in an inner-city environment doesn’t make sense. Parking is expensive, insurance and registration add ongoing costs, and vehicles often sit unused for most of the week. But at the same time, people still need a car - for weekend trips, visiting family, shopping, or getting out of the city.

This is exactly where integrated car share fits.

Access instead of ownership

Through Ollo, residents at The Archive can book the Polestar 2 instantly via the mobile app and use it whenever they need - whether it’s for an hour or an entire weekend. Charging, insurance, servicing and maintenance are all included.

Instead of committing to car ownership, residents simply access a vehicle on demand.

It removes friction from urban living while still preserving freedom and mobility.

Why the Polestar 2 matters

The introduction of the Polestar 2 is more than just a new vehicle - it represents the next stage of residential mobility.

Premium electric vehicles are often out of reach for many renters, yet they align perfectly with how modern residents want to live: sustainable, technology-enabled and flexible. By placing a high-quality EV directly inside the building, residents can experience electric driving without the upfront purchase cost or long-term commitment.

It also supports the building’s sustainability goals by reducing the need for private car ownership and encouraging shared usage of a single vehicle rather than multiple individually owned cars.

The future of residential buildings

We believe apartments are no longer just places people sleep - they’re service ecosystems.

Residents now expect convenience built into where they live: parcel lockers, shared workspaces, gyms, community events and digital access. Mobility is becoming another one of those essential services.

Integrated car share allows developers to:

  • reduce parking demand
  • activate underutilised basement areas
  • offer a premium resident amenity
  • improve sustainability outcomes

Most importantly, it improves everyday life for residents.

A shared vision

Our partnership with CDL Australia reflects a shared belief that residential living should be designed around people rather than vehicles. By embedding mobility directly into the building, The Archive provides residents with flexibility without the burden of ownership.

We’re excited to see the community grow and to welcome residents as they begin using Polestar 2.

This is a small step toward a much bigger shift - where access replaces ownership, and buildings are designed not around parking spaces, but around people.
